Julie Levenson
Julie Levenson is a graduate of Elon University, where she earned a degree in Exercise and Sports Science. Following her massage therapy training, she founded Body Works Massage and Wellness in 1998, building the practice from the ground up into the established, multi-therapist practice it is today. Her work is grounded in a strong understanding of human movement, biomechanics, and the relationship between the nervous system and manual therapy. She emphasizes the body's innate ability to heal when supported through skilled, intentional bodywork that addresses both physical and neurological patterns of tension and dysfunction. Over the course of her career, Julie has shaped Body Works Massage and Wellness into a trusted, long-standing practice known for clinical quality care, professionalism and a deeply client-centered approach to healing and wellness.
Lisa Wade
LISA WADE BFA, LMBT 6356, USADA Doping Control Officer A 1992 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in design, Lisa brings a refined, detail-oriented perspective to her work. Licensed since 2006, she is an orthopedic-based therapist specializing in pain management and improving the quality of her clients’ everyday lives. Her work blends advanced orthopedic techniques with a strong understanding of functional movement, allowing her to address both acute and chronic conditions while supporting long-term wellness. Each session is thoughtfully tailored—delivering precise, results-driven care with an intuitive, client-centered approach. Lisa is known for her professionalism, consistency, and ability to meet each client where they are, creating space for meaningful, lasting change. She also serves as a Doping Control Officer with the United States Anti-Doping Agency, reflecting her commitment to integrity and excellence within and beyond her clinical work.
Kristy Proffit
Kristy Proffit is a Licensed Massage Therapist with experience in the field since 2015, bringing a strong clinical foundation shaped by 17 years at Duke University in wound care and reconstructive plastic surgery as a Certified Medical Assistant. In her role as a CMA, she frequently worked directly with post-operative patients, including wound care management and dressing changes, giving her a highly detailed understanding of the surgical healing process and recovery needs. This clinical experience naturally led her to specialize in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, with a particular passion for post-operative care. Kristy is highly skilled in supporting recovery, reducing swelling, and promoting optimal healing outcomes for surgical clients. Known for her warm, kind demeanor and compassionate presence, she creates a safe and supportive environment for healing. Her work is guided by both clinical precision and a genuine, big-hearted approach to care, making her especially valued by clients navigating recovery.
Amanda Sommer
Amanda Sommer, BA, LMBT 11067, ACSM-CEP, RYT 200, has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2011. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Exercise Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, building a strong academic and clinical foundation for her integrative approach to wellness. In addition to her massage therapy licensure, Amanda is a Certified Exercise Physiologist and Registered Yoga Teacher, bringing a multidisciplinary perspective that bridges rehabilitation, movement science, and mind-body practices. She currently serves as Wellness Director at Twin Lakes, where she leads programming focused on health optimization and functional longevity. Amanda specializes in chronic pain management and injury recovery, offering highly personalized treatments designed to restore mobility, improve function, and enhance overall quality of life. Her holistic, movement-informed approach helps clients move better, recover more effectively, and feel their best.
Amanda Whiteman
Amanda Whiteman has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2015. She studied under nationally recognized massage educator Mark Carangelo, gaining a strong foundation in clinical technique, anatomy and therapeutic precision. She specializes in deep tissue work and cupping therapy, with a focused, anatomy-informed approach to addressing chronic tension patterns, improving mobility and supporting the body’s natural recovery processes. She also enjoys working with prenatal clients, offering supportive care tailored to the changing needs of pregnancy. Her sessions are intentional and results-driven, while still maintaining a balanced, client-centered approach. Amanda is known for delivering focused, effective bodywork tailored to each individual’s needs, helping clients achieve meaningful and lasting relief.
Susan Pomfret
Susan's career began in private practice in 1976 in California. She holds licenses in California, Arizona and North Carolina, and her career spans both clinical and luxury spa environments. Her background includes work at renowned destinations such as the Claremont Resort in Oakland, as well as The Phoenician and The Ritz-Carlton in Phoenix. In addition to her hands-on work, Susan has made significant contributions to massage therapy education, serving as a program director and instructor while helping develop professional curricula. She is also an accomplished writer, with published articles in Massage Magazine, along with books and contributions to multiple industry projects. While she specializes in Myofascial Release, Susan’s work is deeply informed by decades of experience and ongoing advanced training, resulting in a highly intuitive, results-driven approach to bodywork.

Jane K. Hamilton is a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with over 30 years of combined experience in healthcare and wellness. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Fayetteville Technical Community College, she brings a strong clinical foundation to her work. Throughout her career, Jane has practiced in a variety of settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, health clubs and retirement communities, giving her a well-rounded perspective on both rehabilitative and wellness-focused care. She has a particular focus on working with the aging population, where her experience and therapeutic approach support mobility, comfort, and quality of life. Jane specializes in reflexology and integrates a range of massage modalities to effectively address pain, improve function, and promote overall well-being. Known for being deeply grounded in her work, she provides steady, thoughtful care with a focus on helping clients achieve and maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Karen Pomfret
Karen is a Licensed Esthetician since 2015, she spent her first decade in practice in Salt Lake City, Utah, refining her skills in results-oriented skincare and client-centered wellness. Seeking to expand her therapeutic scope, she relocated to Burlington embracing both a new community and the opportunity for professional growth. With a passion for integrative care, she began the Massage Therapy program at Alamance Community College in early 2024, further expanding her understanding of the body’s structure, function and innate capacity to heal. Her work reflects a thoughtful blend of clinical awareness and therapeutic presence, supporting overall well-being through attentive, personalized treatment tailored to each client’s individual needs. She has also been mentored by her sister, Susan Pomfret, a therapist at Body Works, whose guidance has helped shape her understanding of therapeutic touch, anatomy, and the value of compassionate care. Her approach is grounded in continual learning and a genuine desire to help clients feel confident, restored and well cared for.
Michele Eller
Licensed since 2012, Michele brings a depth of knowledge and experience to every client session. As a dual-licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician, she offers a well-rounded, integrative approach to care. Her background in healthcare began as a personal trainer, where she led both group fitness and one-on-one training. Michele’s career spans a wide range of settings, from private practice to delivering exceptional bodywork in luxury resort environments, including The Ritz-Carlton and The Grove Park Inn. She has also held leadership roles managing corporate spa operations, where she recruited, trained, and mentored massage therapists and estheticians—guiding them to refine their skills and elevate their professional standards.
